Goochland County Planning Commission Meeting

On March 19, 2026, the Goochland Planning Commission WILL ONCE AGAIN CONSIDER the VSP application to place a public-use shooting range within 400 feet of property lines and 600 feet of a family home, after having deferred their vote from the January 15, 2026, meeting. A vote to approve/deny IS EXPECTED at this meeting. We are asking for a full denial, and barring that, we would expect no less than major revisions or conditions, such as, at the very minimum:

• Eliminating or relocating the five stands in closest proximity to family homes, either through the conditioning of setbacks or VSP recognizing the unreasonableness of their concept plan and revising accordingly;

• Conditioning that ammunition must be bought on-site and used on-site, with no ammunition sold or used that exceeds the following parameters:

  • No larger than 7 ½ shot size;

  • No heavier than ⅞ oz weight;
